Woodsmiths R1 System Sash Windows

This procedure is designed to stop cold draughts and rattles and so improve the energy efficiency of your home / office and upgrade the mechanical movement of the sashes. All the work is designed to be as unobtrusive as possible, as the components become an invisible part of the window, leaving the window unaltered in appearance. The work is as follows; Releasing of seized sashes. Restoration of the inner box surface. Repair of any loose sash joints. Replacement of staff beads and parting beads. Machining of sashes to install high spec draught proofing strips. Balance and adjustment of weighting mechanism to ensure ease of operation. Service or replacement of pulley wheels and hardware. Replacing old sash cords with modern everlasting cord.

Woodsmiths R2 System Sash Windows

This system is the ultimate in sash window renovation, not only does it include all the work mentioned in Rl system but also the following; The complete window is stripped back to its original primer base coat eradicating all those years of paint build up and revealing the crisp lines and shapes of the mouldings. All defective glazing compounds are removed and replaced. Defective mastics or seals between brickwork and frame are renewed. Then the complete window is primed / undercoated and finally gloss painted. This system recovers all the original detail when the windows were first made and installed all those years ago.

Woodsmiths can also make complete traditional Sash windows or just component parts as and when needed. Our specialised rot repair methods can also be applied to casement windows and period doors.
